RACE AGAINST HUNGER 2023
In 2005, 250 participants turned out for the inaugural “Race Against Hunger” which led runners and walkers through downtown Visalia on early Thanksgiving Morning. Now in its 19th year, this Visalia tradition hosts over 5000 participants and has become the largest race in the Central Valley! Family, friends, businesses, churches, and civic clubs are collaborating as a community to raise the funds needed to keep our food pantry shelves stocked with nutritious foods and snacks. This Visalia tradition is a morning where you will see many creative costumes, enjoy a visit with your family and friends, and count all the reasons you are thankful!
Visalia Emergency Aid (VEA) plans and hosts the “Race Against Hunger”, and 100% of the registration fees directly benefit the organization. VEA’s Board of Directors, a staff of 6, and an incredible army of volunteers are committed to staying focused on our vision, “A Hunger-Free Community”!

Giving Back, Step By Step
Leaves are changing colors, weather is cooling down, and yes, the perfect running/walking weather arrives. Visalia Emergency Aid’s 18th Annual “Race Against Hunger” is on the most thankful day of the year, Thanksgiving Morning! No child hungry has fueled our passion for over 92 years. VEA’s Food Pantry assures our community we will be here to provide supplemental, nutritious groceries for families, (children 2300) seniors, and veterans during the holiday season. Step by step this race is giving back to its community!
Optional Virtual 5K Race
A virtual race is a race that can be run or walked from any location you choose. You can run, jog, or walk in your own neighborhood, local park, trail, treadmill, gym, or at your local track. You get to run at your own pace with family or friends. You will pick up your t-shirt either prior to the race on November 23rd, 2023, or you we can ship it directly to you (shipping fee will be added to registration).
