VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Where: Visalia Emergency Aid Food Pantry and Thrift Store

When: Anytime, Summer, Holiday Distributions, Race Against Hunger….

Who: Individuals or Groups.

Age Requirements: 15 years and older. All volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian with them.

Dress Code: Due to safety concerns while volunteering at the food pantry or thrift store all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops) and clothes must be appropriate to work in a warehouse environment.

Food Pantry Volunteers:

Sort, Pack and Distribute Food: Nutrition and Quality are our Primary Goals

VEA always works to ensure that all food distributed to the hungry is safe, healthy, and ready to eat. Most food donations to the VEA Food Pantry need to be sorted and packed before they can be distributed to families with children, seniors, and veterans. Training will be provided. This job may not be suitable for children under the age of 13.

Thrift Store Volunteers:

VEATS retail outlet where we sell new and gently used clothing, furniture, housewares, jewelry, shoes, etc. to help support our mission. VEATS volunteers help keep merchandise in order, assist customers, assemble the product, and help with basic retail duties such as stocking, pricing, cleaning, and accepting donations.

Race Against Hunger:

Our Annual Race Against Hunger is the Central Valley’s largest 5K run because of the hundreds of volunteers that come out each year! VEA utilizes hundreds of volunteers and relies on their presence to make sure our event is successful and continues to be an anticipated tradition in our community. You can help with the day of registration, packet-pickup, traffic control, Kid’s Race, handing out t-shirts, set-up, and tear-down, this will be a rewarding experience because you will be making an impact in your community!

Group and Corporate Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is an exciting way to team build and boosts employee morale! We can design opportunities that will be fulfilling for your business, clubs, or church and are vital to our food pantry. In 2021, over 1500 volunteer’s provided 18,900 hours of volunteer service. There are a variety of ways for your business or organization to get involved; VEA’s Thanksgiving Morning Race Against Hunger and Holiday food baskets and bike distribution, these are just two examples of how your employees can make a difference.
