Race Against Hunger 2017

The year is flying by and we are preparing for the 13th Annual Race Against Hunger on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017.  Over 5,000 runners and walkers fill the streets of downtown Visalia on Thanksgiving morning to help us fight hunger in our community.   Sponsorship opportunities available.  Have your company logo/name printed on 5,000 race t-shirts, sponsor a selfie station or form a team to feed hungry families.  Contact Iris East, Race Director  iris@veac.org for more information.  For registration information follow this LINK.

Tachi Palace & Casino Supports Our Pantry!

Tachi Palace and Casino has selected Visalia Emergency Aid Food Pantry as the beneficiary of their annual golf tournament and community breakfast.  Proceeds from both events will be presented to VEAC staff and board members on Friday, May 26 at 8:30 am at the community breakfast in Lemoore.   The community breakfast will be held on Friday, May 26 at 8:00 am cost is $5 for a delicious breakfast buffet.   Tachi Palace will donate an additional $5 to VEAC for every attendee at the event.

An Evening On The Red Carpet

Help VEAC build a new pantry!

Just $60/sq.ft.  That is what it will cost to build a new, modern efficient pantry at our north Visalia location!  Our 1940’s food pantry, located at 217 NE 3rd Avenue has served us well but we have outgrown our facility!  Please join us as we build a pantry capable of serving the needs of VEAC families for many years.  Consider a monthly donation to the building fund or buying just 1 sq.ft of pantry space for hungry families.  Naming opportunities available.

Driver/Warehouse Worker Needed

VEAC is looking for an experienced driver to assist our thrift store staff in picking up donations from the local community and warehouse processing.  The volunteer will have a heart for the mission of the VEAC Thrift Store which provides crucial funding to our food pantry.

Location: VEAC Thrift Store – 620 W. Houston Avenue, Visalia, CA  93291

Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse:  Accept donations while providing excellent customer service.
Load and unload purchases/donations from VEAC truck.
Assembling furniture and repairing merchandise for sale.
Keep warehouse organized and neat.
Process donations in accordance with company guidelines.  

Driver: Driving of company vehicle with care and diligence to pick up and deliver store merchandise/donations.  
Treat donors with respect while abiding by company policy on accepting donations.
Keep management informed of any vehicle issues. 

Qualifications:   Driver: Valid California Driver’s License with clean driving record. Experience driving large box truck, RV or trailer with vehicle.  Valid personal auto insurance (you will be covered under our auto insurance as well)   Warehouse:  Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., follow verbal and written instruction. 

24-30 hrs. per week.  $11 per hour. Employment application

85th Anniversary Celebration
